Cruising Down The Street Eating My Lobster Roll

I went for a ride because it was such an amazing day outside. I cruised past Antique Taco Bridgeport on 35th and Morgan and seen at least 70 people partying with food trucks in the parking lot. I decided to pull an Inspector Gadget and see what was going on. There was a giant sign that said “Antique Taco and The Fat Shallot teamed up to bring you Wheel Wednesday food Truck Nights.” This couldn’t have been better planned because, like usual, I was starving and I already had friends there. People were having a blast, there was Bags (AKA Cornhole), four food trucks, great music, and everyone was drinking. It had all the makings of a party!

I started my food frenzy with Happy Lobster. I immediately fell in love with their slogan, “Bringing people together through their love of the lobster roll.” I decided to try The Lobster Grilled Cheese—a Maine Lobster and a two-blend grilled cheese on Challah bread—it was just like grandma used to make… if she was from Maine.

After, I made my way to the 5411 Empanada truck. I tried the Sweet Corn empanada. The perfect blend of salty and sweet and the dough was cooked to perfection. I also had the Spinach and Cheese empanada with a side of their Chimichurri sauce.

My last stop for food was The Fat Shallot. His whole menu looked great, but I had to choose one thing, so I ended up getting the Buffalo Chicken. It was fried chicken tossed in buffalo sauce, placed on an egg bun, with blue cheese sauce and a celery salad. I was blown away, so I started asking questions and found out the owner was Sam Barron and Sarah Weitz. Sam left his Sous Chef position at the reopened Pump Room to take his hand at Food Truckin’!

Last, but definitely not least, I needed my sweet fix. I got this from A.Sweets Girl. She had a great selection of Cake Pops and Cupcakes. She also had the coolest pink hair I’ve ever seen! Anna Wu was the Chef under the pink hair. She recommended the German Chocolate Cupcake and it was to die for—moist, delicious, and perfectly executed. Then I found out she was the winner of Cupcake Showdown on the Cooking Channel and she was also featured on Chicago’s Best.

All in all, it was a killer night at Antique Taco Bridgeport. Be sure to head on out to the next Wheel Wednesday Food Truck Night at Antique Taco Bridgeport on May 23rd. Be sure to tell ‘em Cousin Vinnie sent ya!
