29Rooms of Sensory and Emotional Stimulation

Don’t miss the final stop of Refinery29’s on-the-road tour of 29Rooms Turn It Into Art which is being hosted here in Chicago, located within a transformed warehouse space on West Hubbard Street. If you’ve been to the Happy Place pop-up and have “captured your happy” but are now searching for an experience with a wider range of emotions (including, but not limited to just happy) you’ll be pleased with 29Rooms.
Many of the rooms evoke thought around some of the highly relevant and timely issues of the day. The successful rooms make you feel something, from introspection, serenity, escape, all the way to pure joy—while the not so successful ones just feel like branded commercials for their sponsor. That said however, all of the rooms do delight the eyes and are visually pleasing.
Call us biased, but you’ll definitely want to check out the installations by the local Chicago collaborators for 29Rooms Chicago which include interdisciplinary artist Shani Crowe, muralist Max Sansing, dancers The Era feat. I am Queen and spoken word artist Raych Jackson.
All-in-all I’d say the experience of 29Rooms is totally worth the price of admission whether you’re going just to soak it all in or just going to take lots of pictures and videos for your social media feeds.
The 29Rooms Turn It Into Art pop-up event is here in Chicago for four days, July 26th-29th. If you didn’t get tickets already you’ll be sad to learn that the event is already sold out—so you’ll have to find aftermarket tickets (like on StubHub).
